Scholarship opportunity, online MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development, University of the Highlands and Islands
We take this opportunity to share with you a scholarship opportunity for the online Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainable Mountain Development offered by the University of Highlands and Islands, Scotland:
A scholarship towards the costs of studying for the part-time online MSc in Sustainable Mountain Development offered by the University of the Highlands and Islands, Scotland, is available for one student starting in September 2018. The scholarship is available to candidates anywhere in the world, with a preference for those working in a UNESCO biosphere reserve in a mountain area, thus contributing to the aims of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development.
The scholarship will pay all tuition fees for a student to complete the MSc. The successful candidate will be responsible for paying all other costs (books, travel to induction, etc.).
Candidates for the scholarship should send to info.cms@perth.uhi.ac.uk a CV and letter (maximum 500 words), describing the benefits a) they would derive from the degree and b), if relevant, for the biosphere reserve where they work. The deadline for applications for the scholarship is 31 May 2018. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by phone or Skype in early June 2018.
The successful candidate will have to commit to take at least two modules per year (September to December and late January to May) for three years and to undertake a dissertation in the fourth year (or sooner, if more modules are taken). If the successful candidate does not have a previous degree from an English-speaking university, he or she will have to prove competence in English (see University of the Highlands Islands’ English language requirements).
